Bows are easy to get, just go to any sporting goods store and there's a hige selection you can just buy off the shelf. Crossbows are less common and there tendto be more restrictions on their use. Differs state to state but I've never lived anywhere you could hunt with one which probably explains their relative scarcity.

As a few anons have stated different rules in different states.
In TN Bows are legal. A 10yo can walk in and buy a bow.
Crossbows I'm not sure if there's an age restriction. I don't think so because I purchased one when I was a teenager.
Hunting with a crossbow is a weird set of rules.
In competitions you can't use a crossbow for bow hunting unless you're handicapped.
But just hunting on your property and stuff there's no issues.
Your bow selection will vary depending on if a retailer carries whatever or has it in stock.
Hunting/fishing supply stores generally carry a large selection. As well as sporting goods stores.
Ordering online is generally cheaper though especially when you buy in bulk.

My country is extremely discouraging for buying any firearm, as to get the license its a long and tedious process and even in the end of all that, the police have the right (and do) randomly show up at your house at whatever time they want and check your firearms are all stored not only in the safe but the ammunition has to be stored in a separate safe, if your wife answers the door (or anyone else) and the police ask her to get the key and show them it's stored correctly they will arrest her and take the firearms, take away your license because its considered to be stored unreasonably if someone without a license can get to them.

I really don't want to go through all that hassle, also if shit really does go down they will have a detailed list of everyone who owns firearms legally, amount they own, how often they buy ammunition, etc. It's all kept track of when you buy anything.

Even a BB gun requires a license. Tasers and pepper spray are illegal. Crossbows are illegal. Bullet proof vests are illegal.
