Standard of living is not connected to the social system, rather it's the other way around. Check the "belle epoque". Life in Europe was as good as it could be on the verge of the 20th century, within the limits of the technology of the day, and everyone was running some modification of hardcore feudalism

In feudalism you are a serf slaving away on your lord's land.

In capitalism you can work whatever for whoever whenever you need to. In socialism you are given a job by the state or face imprisonment/execution and in return you get ration tickets for food and housing. Which one sounds closer to feudalism?
