Yes, there is actually.
For a society to function there needs to be a hierarchy of virtues, a type of ladder that concepts are compared to one another.
For each political ideology there is one thing or concept that is placed above all the others, a sort of goal that each and every citizen must work towards.
In some ideologies it differs by a huge margin even though they seem to be similar in nature.
For fascism the it's the state.
For national socialism it's the race.
For anything leftist it's personal freedom.
