Some were raised during an economic boom where housing was easy. Some were raised around Vietnam, around communist propaganda on both sides, around hippies and drugs and sexual liberation. Some were brought up entering secondary school and university when home computing got under way. Some people are younger than when the entire internet was already wired into everything, who grew up around mobile phones, and knew how to play with an ipad before they could talk.

It is useful to define these people so instead of using 20 words, we can just say "gen z" and we all know what that means.
