True, but all of these cultures have certain similarities with one another given their geographic proximity and historical contact with one another.

French are Italian culture have some level of similarity, muh closer than, say, to indonesian culture or any other.

The similarities with them, like art, music, architecture, traditions. makes them a common European culture but with regional variations.


The same applies to every corner of the world, Asia, Africa, Latin America.

You can find similarities with almost anything.
Eventually you can include the whole human population of earth because there are such similarities however few.
But somewhere you have to draw the line between us and them.
There is absolutely no reason to include all Europeans as 'us'.
They're not blood, they're not kin, they're not the same ethnic group as us, they follow different religious dogmas, they have largely different customs and ethics, different and often conflicting national and geopolitical interests, they speak different languages, they like and dislike different things... we are just not the same.

The EU wants to homogenize what foreigners see when they look at the various European countries. Just as how the various Caucasian descendants of pilgrims and settlers are lumped together as White Americans, they want to make it so there are no Germans or Polish or Finns or British, but White Europeans.
By simplifying the though processes involved with differentiating and identifying the various ethnic groups to just their skin colors, it will make it all the more easier for the non-natives from China or what have you to start a race war using an Us vs. Them mentality, just as how the racial strife we see in America right now is being propagated.
