Using the dendrochronological method - comparing the tree rings in the wood used in the construction - it has been determined that the trees used to build the Trelleborg Viking Fortress were felled between 980 and 981 AD, setting the time of construction at that time.
The diameter of the Trelleborg Viking Fortress is 180 meters. The inner wall is 17 meters wide and 5 meters high. Trelleborg is the only Danish viking fortress with an outer wall. The fortress covers 15 acres of land.

The Egyptians told the nubians to build that shit and taught them how. It's not their original invention.

this is an important thing to remember. The vast majority of human settlements from the past 5000+ years no longer exist for this very simple reason. Most humans built their villages near water, especially the sea, and the sea level has risen significantly since ancient times. Things like the pyramids of egypt have survived for so long because of their location, not because they were the only people 'smart' enough to stack blocks ontop of each other.
My grandparent's childhood house was built by the sea and now that entire area has eroded away and is gone. Does this mean the people from my grandparent's time didn't know how to build a fucking house? of course not, use your fucking brain and think for a second before posting some stupid bullshit >>139933771

Yeah and another thing to remember too is just that people also weren't building homes out of the sturdiest stuff too. So the big temples and palaces survive but all the little normal buildings get destroyed in floods, natural disasters, wars, just plan erosion and no one maintaining it.
