Now bought by a Chinese company. Did my research and the structure is simplified as this: there are three entities. A Swedish group, a Chinese group, and an American group. The Swedish group does the dev and tech side. The Chinese group owns all the legal rights to the products and is covered by layers upon layers upon a fuckton more layers such that nobody on the face of the planet can find out the names of those who owns the Chinese company that owns Opera. The American company buys data that is completely anonymised (can see the algorithm as its publically available) before the data is sent to them who then owns the ultimate data of any informative value commmercialy such as trends etc. that is completely delinked from any personal data or traceability. I followed a guide making everything completely untracable, but i'm unable to use the browser because it block every function, from posting to viewing graphics. It only takes a sec or two to allow some requests for a site and then it works for a whole browser session, which for me is usually a few days. If you think about it, you probably don't visit that many different sites so it's not that bad.

Proprietary video serving systems inside news articles can be a bit annoying though, have to allow spooky looking stuff to try to find the correct video CDN and the process can take up to 20 secs if I don't recall the correct allows for the particular site.
