other groups of people in this country have dealt with abject poverty and discrimination in this country but african americans, more than any other group, seem overwhelmingly willing to reject the idea that cultural issues within their own group and a lack of responsibility among african american men leads to crime and violence. as soon as a cop kills a negro it makes headlines but the city of chicago and dc (where I live) which are overwhelmed by black violence nobody says a fucking thing. it's amazing. poverty cannot be a sole source of cultural decline within an entire ethnic community
