You need to buy a toll in order to drive on Bulgarian roads. The "highway" from the border to Sofija is nonexistent. The minimal toll you can buy is for 7 days, it costs 10 euros. So if you just want to use the airport in Sofija, basically spend less than a day, they still force you to buy a 7 day long toll.
