Why has the definition of autism changed so frequently every decade?
>1940's - Autism is exclusive with schizophrenia
>1950's - Autism is similar to schizophrenia but doesn't require psychosis
>1960's - Autism is only a social disorder that included psychopathy and catatonia
>1970's - Autism is caused by organic brain damage from immune responses and makes kids retarded
>1980's - Autism is actually a neurodevelopmental disorder LMAO we're dumb. Autism isn't brain damage but something is fucked up in there.
>1990's - We should separate retard autists from smart autists and call them aspergers aka sperg retards. Also puzzles n'shieet lmao.
>2000's - Autism is caused by over 50 genetics and chemicals and shieet. It also has ADHD, OCD, Sensory issues, higher than average IQ, synesthesia, motor issues, etc. It's caused by a lack of synaptic pruning in early development.
>2010's - Autism is just a spectrum guys, there's nothing wrong with it! :) :) :)
>2020's - Autistic people are superior to the neurotypical and should never be insulted you fucking ableist lower IQ plebeian.

Do you think the 1940s was peak medicine? We do science and learn things. The brain happens to be a hard thing to figure out. Everyone thought pluto was a planet up until recently and now we know better. Definitions change as we find out new things.

But people don't care about Autism research and just want to make autistic kids "happy" but they don't give a fuck about autistic who can't hold a job or kill themselves.

>there isn't a definition of autism faggot
it's always been a spectrum and your last 2020s line is retarded like you
wow it's almost like they're making advancements in understanding it and don't just institutionalize people who are a little different. amazing!

Schizophrenia has always been a spectrum, so has Bipolar.
The spectrum has never been clearly defined and only separates severe autists, "classic" autists, and spergs.

oh the old "technology has advanced and therefore so have our morals" argument
>>139699251
Who the fuck said anything about morals rocks for brains?
It's the slippery slope of "intelligence should be a mental illness for being freaks who do things I can't do" disease.
