AAA and indie games get pretty much the same exposure now. if you want to make a multiplayer game, you have to compete with PUBG, Overwatch, etc., nobody wants to play your tiny insignificant indie multiplayer game. even if you get a flash-in-the-pan brief shock of success, the odds of players sticking around after a month are slim at best.
