To be fair, custom slip covers are cheap. You can just cover all the old shit in white, or whatever color you want and make it all color coordinated. You can get a slim energy efficient one that's easy to break down and transport, at IKEA for 30 bucks. In every generation, there are those who are productive and those who aren't.

There are those who work hard, save hard, are frugal, and pass something on to the next generation.

There are also slackers who piss everything away, waste it all on themselves, and leave nothing.

These two types are in EVERY generation. The greatest generation had them, the boomers have them, the younger generations have them.

My point is that while I have no problem with attacking the irresponsibility of individuals, it's inaccurate to say that the entire generation is that way.

I received no help from my parents because my mother is a fucking parasite that blows her money on exorbitant amounts of stupid shit and my father didn't have the kind of money to support me because my mother leeched it all and blew it on, you guessed it, stupid shit. It's worth less than a tenth of what I got from my parents back in the day.

Boomer economics and inflation have completely wiped out any and all generational wealth, unless the sums were already astronomical to begin with.
