US more or less doesn't care anymore, but they're afraid of Iran growing powerful in Iraq. Nothing they can do at this point though, Russia won the chess game and Assad will rule one of the richest countries in the region once China monopolizes their reconstruction postwar. As DAESH is pushed out of Iraq they are coming back into Syria and their counter attacks are devastating what little is left of the Syrian army. It doesn't look good.
