All those people/institutions have taken a RISK on you by giving you the money/facilities that you do not have at that time. As with any investment, you seek to make money and not just break even - or what's the point?

The bank takes a risk in lending the money, and the man who takes the loan has an interest in creating additional value in order to not only pay off the loan but for himself. If you're taking a loan when you expect that what you can do with it will only pay off the interest or worse, you should reconsider.
