Trads complain about the destruction of the liturgy but they forget two vital things:

(1) Catholics cannot protest any liturgical reform issued by the Vatican. The Jansenists tried to petition the Vatican to allow mass in the vernacular. The Vatican issued a magisterial teaching that it is heresy to believe that Rome could issue defective rites.

(2) Blaming everything on Vatican II does not work at all. Even if you pull the "only a pastoral council" card, you still have the confront the reality that the reason why the Novus Ordo liturgy was so horrible was because of decisions that Vatican had been making for centuries to prohibit the use of liturgies developed organically within the ethnic context of individual peoples, such as the Gallican and the Mozarabic Rites.
