North Korea invaded South Korea with tanks while South Korea had no anti-armor rounds or tanks of their own. They pushed all of South Korea back to a tiny space near the Southeast until pushed back with US support, millions dead in the process from both sides, civilian and military.

It was a full on invasion with political pretense with zero mercy. Would the US ever reunite and become one with the British Commonwealth?

Not any time soon. Kim Jong Un will take the boot and the country will be out of isolation, but not united with South Korea. South Korea doesn't want to help them.

China probably will integrate them effectively, if not explicitly. They are either going to go extinct ethnically within a generation due to communism, or the country will be Vietnam-tier for a while.
