Then once the society liberalizes at all the new research rapidly rediscovers the knowledge and tech independently and within a short period reproduces an equivalent of the oppressive technology and it starts over again.
The only difference is today we have much wider spread access than they did before. But we'll still end up having to destroy it all to free ourselves.

We'll destroy all computer technology, and even everything that generates and uses electricity. We'll melt it all down, and the rest of it will just be buried by tons of earth as the centuries pass. Do you have any clue how old that is? It's been that way really since the early 1900s, possibly longer than that.
