Arrogance - they think that Islam can be subverted the same way that Christianity was. They don't realize that secular Westernism was the logical conclusion of Christian individualist virtue and possession of the self, rather then 'undone' by secular western values.

Islam is in many ways a much stronger religion then Christianity - it channels all base urges towards its ends and is structurally solid from ruler to ruled. It has clear and implementable directives towards others imposing values on them.
