In 2013 the pro-rebel western media claimed that the Iranian intervention in Syria would be their Vietnam, Sunni elements would overthrow Assad and Iran would be unable to supply Hezbollah thus degrading Iran's ability to strike Israel.

Fast forward to 2017 and Iran has successfully kept Assad in power, is building missile factories in lebanon, has flooded Syria with battle hardened Shia militia from Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Pakistan, who all will fight in the next war with Israel.

What is /pol/'s view on this geopolitical development.
