If they just said that we're allowing extra energy to be absorbed into Earth's near closed system that it would lead to some parts of the world experiencing more extreme weather and then over the centuries if not thousands of years the ice would eventually melt going back to the prehistoric standard for the planet which is unknown territory for humanity we wouldn't question their motives nearly as much as we do now.
