What was it like while this movie was out? Did society shift

Jews did their very best to ignore it...even da Juden couldn't stop this movie and it's huge success...and the fuckers did try...

I remember it was a big success when it came out. There were news stories about criminals that saw it and were so moved that they turned themselves in to the police. As for the Jews, their biggest objection to the movie was the scene taken from Matthew 27 where Pontius Pilate washes his hands and declares himself innocent of Jesus' blood and the crowd shouts, "His blood be on us, and on our children!" Also, I remember that there were some scumbag critics claiming that the violence of the scourging scene was "sexualized" and "like a BDSM movie."

Why would society shift because of some snuff film?

Everyone thought the movie sucked except for everyones weird wide eyed born again aunt who found it "moving".

It had a massive turn out. I thought it wasn't in depth enough compared to the bible but of course movies aren't as in depth as the source literature. I thought it was epic and moving. A true masterpiece.
