Sorry to ruin your disaster porn hopes and dreams, but he ain't. We've only been monitoring Yellowstone's volcanic activity for about 30 years or so, and what we know about the eruption is only as far as we can infer from geological records and surrounding land formations.

There has been more volcanic activity in in the last 2 million years, but more activity with less powerful eruptions. The theory that it would wipe out life is based off that first-known eruption which reshaped the land around it, but most of its eruptions since have been far less powerful. We can see that the last lava flow was about 70,000 years ago, and the last massive eruption was something like 174,000 years ago (which didn't have a significant impact on anything outside a 200 mile radius).

The next eruption is believed to be at least a few thousand years away, possibly ten or more thousand years away based off the eruption cycle according to the USGS. If we wanted another cataclysmic eruption, we'd have to wait another 400,000 or so years of cumulative build-up. .

Animals are as abundant as ever there, in fact the bison herds have dramatically expanded in the last decades.

On the other hand, there are bulges in Lake Yellowstone which are rising quite dramatically, a couple inches a year, and I was fishing for Arctic Greyling in the Greebe River and there are a bunch of new thermal features there since I was in that stretch of the stream a few years back.
