I think that a lot of draws young men and women to antifa is to some degree what draws people to the alt-right. I don't mean that in some superficial horseshoe theory kind of way, but in the sense that there is something about modernity, post-modernity, the denigration of true identity, the exaltation of the individual, the tendency towards atomisation in western societies, that leaves a void, a blank-space in many young people who are looking for something bigger than themselves to associate with. In a naturally ordered, healthy, organic society most of these people would have a role, they'd have a place, they'd be labourers, they'd be working on farms, they'd be in industrial plants. Some of them might go on to higher education but only a tiny minority because university would be limited to only the most qualified elite because if you open the gates to everyone, you must lower the standards. But no, most of these young people when they aren't screeching at some inane anti-Trump protest (which by the way, is nothing more than a way to signal that you have fashionable beliefs) they are either unemployed college students or they are working at some indescribable digital start-up which produces nothing tangible. Anyway, I've veered off a bit. The point is that millennial are attracted to these angry, in some cases violent mobs because of atomisation, absence of meaning, nihilism.

When I was an anarcho crust punk faggot in school, I liked antifa because they gave me a sense of brotherhood. It was an entire political organization made up of other 'workers' AKA neets who blamed literally everybody but themselves for their problems. So it was a mix of confirmation bias, victim-hood, and comradery that made it appealing. Just speaking from personal experience.

There is no bigger form of self-validation than feeling morally superior to someone else. But in order to do that, they have to jump from moral panic to moral panic, trying to get their 'fix'.

I'm getting tired of hearing about Antifa, but they could realistically become a threat. Just not right now.

It's the media and other pseudo-father figures giving tacit approval to the rebellious behavior. If nobody you care about is telling you it's wrong then it isn't wrong. Hence the echo chamber the left is producing on their own violent practice.

All the US needs is a major economic or political happening that paints our current established government seem like a actual "bad guy" ala watergate make the far left/ general left truly militant. I would wager it would take outside support from a rival nation, years of planning and training and insane amount of reciprocating violence, including deaths to make the political climate applicable. Now it's a small group of pissants shitting their britches cause they didn't like how a election turned out. Revolutions don't happen overnight.

As of right now a armed rebellion of any type would be stamped out quickly, as there is no outright support for armed political violence, there is no need.
But currently sections of the left are trying to polarize the poor/working class/easily impressionable enough to the point where they condone open violence and or revolution as they would see it would be the only way to alleviate (((((oppression)))).
