Germany would become an ustoppable economic power. Considering it imports most of its goods from the Netherlands through Rotterdam, which it then exports further into Europe, Deutschland would rival China and the US with ease.

As much as I like the idea of a unified German peoples, I'm a bit wary about how it dilutes regional distinctions.
The Alemannic speakers of the south of Baden-Württemberg are losing their dialect and local culture, whilst the Swiss-Germans - remaining independent - better retain it.
What would happen if the Netherlands, Flanders and the Swiss-German speaking parts of Switzerland were to join with Germany (and Austria) in a unitary political entity? I wouldn't want it.
I'd prefer to see a federation of autonomous German states.
