Like any idealogy, it has its merits. People that act like anything is 100% bad are deluding themselves. Fascism becomes more appealing when people are dissatisfied with the structure of society. Communism also becomes more appealing in these situations. Both ideologies have killed millions of nameless people. It's not a coincidence that these two ideals often rise in parallel with one side eventually purging the other after seizing power.

I'd argue that Nietzsche did change the world. He was an influence to too many people throughout the whole philosophical and ideological spectrum. Of course, the fundamental trend remained the same, but who could actually change that? But that wasn't my point. It was that people gravitate towards ideologies to give their lives meaning, when they haven't discovered it themselves. This is probably why young people are most political. Outcasts gravitate towards ones that exhude superficial power, because they are lacking any of it themselves. That is, Nietzsche quotes, but not Nietzsche books. I suspect fascism is somewhat similar.

Participating in these discussions doesn't make me feel powerful. Accomplishing difficult things does, which is one of the reasons I like doing it.

Nietzche's influence kind of ends where psychoanalysis begins. What he wrote ultimately became a simple warning to a future that had almost immediately followed his life - one that now holds greater cultural implications for the future that came even beyond Weimar Germany. I can nearly guarantee history would have carried on its same reactionary pace regardless. The problem with his reception is often his writing is so full of itself that it appeals to the egos of already mentally troubled youth. I wouldn't discard his works in their entirety despite that.

Fascism isn't a radically modern ideology, it is an evolution of historical attitudes placed into a post-revolutionary industrial world. I would not discard these ideologies as fruitless, since, they've had resounding successes and elevated human civilization repeatedly. It's arrogant and short-sighted to think that we are truly at our height now in this era of delusion and mental illness.

So he looks for the reason why.

He learns about nazis and realizes that from the nazi perspective, he is awesome, because...he's white. He creates an elaborate scenario in his mind in which the nazis won the war, and he holds a place of prominence in society because of his whiteness.

He has nothing else to offer besides whiteness so this becomes his raison d'etre. He dwells on the singular obsession that it is the nigger and the jew who are responsible for his impotent position in society.

He lashes out. On /pol/. And elsewhere. But mostly on /pol/.

And of course, here he is important, and belongs - he's a member of a body of people with convictions and beliefs, a body of people who practically single-handedly got Donald Trump elected President!

All my right leaning friends are social, married with children (or planning to) and have succesful jobs.
