My family is important to me, therefore the universe also revolves around them. An ego exists to give attention, not to beg for it. It's called "Honour" when I give my attention and praise to someone; it's the gift that keeps on giving. The modern man is always looking for validation, even though they claim to have enough of it; it's required by their economic environment to be confident yet needy like that.
I only give validation to important people (in my life), and I never ask for it; this helps me change my focus to my friends and family, and I can defocus from the issues around the world.
