I know how you feel friend, until a few months ago I was in the same place. I wasn't able to start on the journey to becoming a Christian until I actually started reading the Bible in its entirety. Here are a few things that helped me.

1. The Bible, especially a lot of the Old Testament stuff, is somewhat allegorical. Just as Jesus used parables to impart his wisdom that people of the time couldn't otherwise grasp, so does God tailor his message for the audience he had at the time (very primitive people). Taking all of it completely literally in the modern age robs it of context.

2. Cross reference your readings with impartial historical research. The vast majority of the Bible is supported by the work of secular archaeologists (what people lived where, who did what, etc). The records kept by the early tribes of Israel, and later the Romans were incredibly detailed.

3. Pay special attention when the Bible describes the ways God reveals Himself. The nature of how the book is written tends to oversimplify things, but once I got passed looking for "burning bush moments" I started to see His invisible hand in countless places in my life that I had never before seen.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions or provide more points. I'm by no means an expert, and it's A LOT to take in, but I can say without question (after being an atheist for 30 years) that I have zero doubts that God exists.
