I'm not sure how conscious it is, I think a lot of it that Swedes like to project themselves as kind and tolerant so took in refugee but I find that Sweden fails to integrate these people into society.

But I think language is hugely important to a society and a country and I want to make the effort to be a part of Swedish society. I would not want to see the Swedish language diluted and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn it.

You may be right to a certain extent but a lot of the refugees are just dumped into inner city areas and given little support to help find work, so they won't.
The people I've spoken to have spent years in refugee camps and Sweden picked them to come, they didn't get to pick which country would be given Asylum in.
I think there is a certain level of responsibility to a country, if they want to take refugees they should give them some measure of support to make them productive members of that society.

In my country, those who're granted asylum automatically get the right to work. They are also offered countless language courses and job training. The problem is that learning the language actually isn't required, so a huge portion of immigrants just sit it out.

Another problem is that many unskilled refugees/migrants forego job training, preferring to work really shitty jobs because they want to earn money fast in order to support their families back home.

I assume the situtation is similar in Sweden. Integration programs do exist, but they're mandatory.

I'm in Sweden right now for a few months. Let me tell you a few things I've observed.

Let's start with the good. This land is beatiful. Not just green, but full of life and ancient ruins. The native women are beautiful, too, and many of the men seem skilled. Opposite what one of the posters here said, all of the low-wage jobs (McDonalds workers, construction, etc.) have been manned by native Swedes. That was weird in contrast to the US, where it's usually blacks and mexicans who work those jobs.

I've noticed many Swedes are obsessed with foreign things, especially food. In my town it has been impossible to find a place with good meatballs and Swedish pancakes. There are dozens of fucking "pizza kebab" shops. Disgusting. But the Swedes love multiculturalism because they think it will bring in "fresh ideas" to contrast with what they perceive as stale Swedish ideas. There's an undertone of self-loathing in the humor and generally in conversations. It's really weird.

Another thing is that they frequently complain about the youth shortage (JUST FUCKING REPRODUCE!!!!!!). They use this to justify importing foreign students and other types of migrants, and make it way too easy for any visitor to stay indefinitely.

A lot of native Swedes apparently leave the country when they go to university. Many end up staying in the UK or Germany. I'm not sure if that's the result of it not being as hospitable for natives as it is for invaders, or whether they just want to leave their country.

So to any Swedes on here right now. Your ancestors created an incredible place. Take pride in what they have left you and now do them proud. Find a good Swedish wife and start popping out some kids. Remove all kebab pizzas. That's your only hope.

The Swedes generally I find are friendly enough, if a little reserved. They're generally quiet and laid back which can be frustrating at times but the national character seems to be sanctimoniousness tempered by cowardice.
