Yeah, they have a lot more in common. If you look at the roads in Missouri it's all fucked up trying to go north to south. St. Louis, Columbia, and Kansas City are the blue belt. Everything south of that is basically Kentucky/Arkansas. Everything North looks just like Iowa/Illinois. In fact as much as I've travelled I've never even met anyone north of Columbia outside of northern Missouri.

Everyone here's trying to carve up states in the Midwest, and most of these states have absolutely no reason to split up. People from these states identify with the pre-existing borders, and only hugely divided states like California have any chance of breaking up should some scenario split the states into factions
