The civilization of Ancient Greece was basically created by the best people among the crowd of free citizens. Free citizens were between 20% kai 30% of the general population. The rest were either non citizens or slaves. The slaves may have been Greek or generally white in origin, but they were still slaves, ergo lacking in self control and creativity.
The population of modern Greece is more or less descended from the population of ancient Greece.
Therefore there is a percentage of at least 70% that originated from the slaves of ancient Greece. This 70% intermarried with the rest, following the abolition of slavery during the times of the Eastern Roman Empire.
So basically Greece may not have a race problem, but it does have a serious and crippling caste problem.
The only solution: 7 generations of strict benevolent aristocratic dictatorship that will, among other things ensure that only those with desirable traits, the Aristoi procreate.

The wanted all the free shit but didn't want to work or pay taxes for several decades. No one bothered to save money because they thought the government would take care of them with government pensions and such.

When the government decided to cut back on these social programs the people freaked out because they had nothing else to fall back on in terms of savings or retirement and had no money in the bank.

So who's fault was it?

Was it the government's fault for making wild promises of economic security that they couldn't keep? Or was it the people's fault for actually believing them?

And the history before then: civil war instigated by Communists, WW2 occupation of Nazis, WW1, War of Independence, going back to the fall of Roman Byzantium in 1453. Much has happened for the Greeks though the greatness is always there, usually showing itself under times of great strife and pressure. Leftism is what created the modern ruins of the Greek state, like a number of other Euro countries
