san antonio here.
we're fine.
can't say much for corpus christi or galveston though.
Harvey's rate of intensification appears to be increasing. Pressure down to around 994 MB based on dropsonde + wind at splashdown. Multiple 50-55 knot FL winds with a 60 knot just for good measure in the NE Quad.

A Hurricane Warning has been issued from Port Mansfield to Matagorda, Texas.
Really fascinating transformation of Harvey overnight, with the center reforming north in the deepest convection and the overall structure of the storm improving. Pretty sharp pressure drops ongoing right now before the core even gets particularly strong. Will be interesting to see what the next recon mission finds and how this northward movement/reformation impacts the future track.
An already dangerous situation for Texas is getting even more serious.
It's an omen.

Hurricane Harvey is coming to wash the corruption away.
GFS is coming in even stronger through 36. My goodness.

Meh. There were all sorts of dire predictions about Hurricane Matthew last year, and then nothing happened. Hurricane forecasts almost always tend toward extreme alarmism after Katrina.
hopefully it cools down the midwest

I was surprised at how well they handled Superstorm Sandy, but I guess that was luck as well.
Still /comfy/ though. Kind of like those old Oroville threads where you knew it probably wasn't going to HAPPEN but it was such a full-scale shit show that it wouldn't have taken all that much more to cause any number of fun outcomes.
