ISIS destroy pieces which represent islam in a fashion which they disagree with. Those statues (albeit replicas) were of famous islamic poets. They have not destroyed monuments to the warfare of islam, nor destroyed the history of the Quran.

The point is, removing, deleting history is a path to self destruction. Pretending (childishly) that something didn't exist to make you feel better is self destructive.

I could have used the Germans & Nazi's as an example - Germany is so aghast at its Nazi past, that it has moved so far politically left that the country is self destructing once again.
