That sounds really weird, try another church maybe. Every church is somewhat unique, if you don't like some priest or people attending you can just switch and find the one you like. I'm an atheist and I sometimes go to mass just because I like the rite in the older medieval churches, shits great and really helps to focus on your inner thoughts even if you dont believe. The sound, the lightning, everything, hypnotizing, but sometimes something just doesnt click with me and I leave if the church isnt the right one.
