The idea of selling your time for money is fundamentally a form of slavery.

Our existance on this earth is relatively short and we never get to come back. In the light of this, the time you have is immensely valuable, hardly something you want to sell for a couple of dollars an hour.

My situation is quite good at the moment, I have a great education as well as savings, enough to last me a couple of years without work, but not enough to be completely free from the system. With more work and smart investments, I may be able to acheive economic freedom and thus existential freedom in 10-15 years.

The more you think about what your priorities are, about what value in life really is, the more you realize how immensely important money is. I am jealous of people who are young and healthy and already have several million dollars, they are really in a priceless situation.

What are your own thoughts on this?

The goal in life is to be free, and not be a slave.

What else am I going to do with my time? I can either use it directly for stuff I want and need, or I can sell it for money to buy stuff I want and need from somebody else.
>>
>>138669336
The goal is to have enough to not have to sell your time.

I think a lot of people would ask the same thing as you, what else would you do with your time?

This is a very important question fundamentally. What is the point of existing? What would you do, if you didn't have to spend your time doing someone else's bidding (working)?
>>
>>138671298
Let's separate out your two questions. If I couldn't pay somebody else to sell the results of his time to me, and I, in return, the results of my time to himself, then I would have to be the most skilled and efficient person on Earth to get by. Even then, I would no longer have community enough to develop civilization and survival with the inherent level of socialism that comes with having people who can variously rely on each other to get by.

As for the point of existing? Beats me. I didn't ask to exist. I'd kind of rather not exist, but I have to, so it's mutually easier to be able to share the workload using something called money as an intermediary. The exploiters of money are the parasites.
>>
>>138668202
What can we do? Wealth needs to be generated because we're constantly consuming. The only way to get out of the system is to produce enough wealth to pay for your life. Seems fair to me. There are no free rides, on the rape train.
>>
"[Your] idea of being free is a prison of beliefs."

"We all want to be famous people, and the moment we want to be something we are no longer free."
>>
>>138672657
No free rides, that is very true. When you start to think about it, it becomes painfully obvious how hard it is to generate wealth to some decent level.

Doesnt take away from how important it is to think about these things, however. The goal is exactly like you say, to generate enough wealth with as little cost (time) as possible, to be able to enjoy and spend the true value in life (time) to your liking.

For regular people, I think this comes down to investing money earned from labour. Anyone else have ideas?
>>
>>138673996
Investment is largely money-moving and speculation in this day and age. Most people who "invest" doesn't know what they are "investing" in.

Try growing tomatoes. It's very easy and it generates way more tomatoes than you could eat yourself unless you want to get in to canning or something, so you'll wind up giving them away so they don't go to waste.

>The idea of selling your time for money is fundamentally a form of slavery

False statement right of the bat Sven. What you could drop out of civilization right now and live a basic and "free" life off the land, but you want the comforts of civilization and the only way to get ethically acquire them is to pay. If you didn't want things you would be"free"

>to be able to enjoy and spend the true value in life (time) to your liking.

Tbh most people waste their free time though. Are you really telling me sitting on /pol/ is the best thing you can do with your time?

Look at rich people, so they fuck around on yachts and shit. Still just wasting time.

Best, maybe not. Counterintelligence operations I don't know but it's a fun side project.

>Counterintelligence operations I don't know but it's a fun side project.

See, you have a decent goal. Like you said it may not be the best, but it's worthy.

But how many people are just here to shitpost?
>>
>>138678692
Shitposting has become an especially contentious social issue as the numods have gotten especially delete-happy. This is a natural result of the standard agitation plans.

The shitposting itslef is not important. What's important is creating two opposing sides where one shitposts just to piss off the mods who come to reflexively delete it in a Pavlovian fashion. That way, the masses of people who fall on various parts of the spectrum of caring or not caring come to get upset about not just either but both sides so that it disorganiszes the whole thing an makes everybody angry and at odds with each other. Then you keep stoking and poking the fire until you get people who try to put it out without realizing that they're even more irritating for not taking a side and everybody just gives up and fucks off, all the more ready for the next wave of radicalization.

It's not an easy question to answer, what is meaningful enough for you to spend your time on. Starting to answer that question means that you have started to think about what you value and what you would truly prioritize in life.

I think ignoring the question and just keeping on trucking, in the end will turn out to be a mistake. The answer is not easy, or obvious, but it is a worthy question to seek an answer to.
>>
>>138680360
Make kids. The two fundamental bases to self-reproductive live such as we know it on Earth are survival and reproduction. That goes back down to things we don't even agree to regard as being "live."

If you debase those from your existence then don't expect to be able to leverage the entire stack of your makeup.
>>
>>138680360
>The answer is not easy, or obvious, but it is a worthy question to seek an answer to.

Yes, and I think I've found the answer, and my goal in life is attaining enlightenment.

But women honestly make no fucking sense. I'm coming off a recent experience (after a lifetime coloring me a certain way), but I'm just so utterly confused on what exactly I'm supposed to do.

Honestly, meditation and breathing practices are more fulfilling and don't seem to be as nonsensical.

>Women make no fucking sense
True facts. I'm not going to give you protips on women, but I will confirm for you that they don't make any fucking sense.

At least I grew up back in the day where pop culture normalized this concept. It's a two-way deal.

Living off the lands as a hobo would not be in line with what I would see as a valuable way to live out my existance.

So it's not literal slavery, but the implication if you decide to not work is obviously a life in misery, a form of punishment.

Living well, eating well, being able to participate in society and consume things you enjoy is important.

What are you doing with your life at present?
>>
When you make enough money (Roughly $15hr untaxted or close to 30k a year) you can afford really nice things like a house and relatively new car, its worth it. Theres a huge difference between making 7.25 and 15 trust me i'd know. Left to your own devices youd just jerk it and feel bad about yourself all day, slavery gives you a sense of purpose.
