Notice how after the 2008 crash levels of debt all dropped markedly, except for student loan debt which continued to increase dramatically? Lack of ability to borrow in other ways caused more students and young people to stay in or go back to school, using student loans to cover the costs. Student loans acted as a sort of default quantitative easing. So now that bubble is going to pop soon, and then what? Where does the next bailout come from?

If it doesn't come at all, we will see dramatically increased competition for low-skilled labor and a flooded labor market, along with lack of higher educated people to drive forward technology and investment. Hold onto your butts.

I'm trying that, pretty hard, especially when trying to hustle on the side. But there are plenty of resources, for free even. Mango Languages is available for free at a lot of libraries, don't know how fluent you'll become, but it's originally $20/month.

A lot of sites like Lynda are out there, most of their tutorials are online to download. Some sites also come with certifications that will help with a job, though I've seen them for $200/month with 170 hours for the total course. I think Lynda has some certifications for certain paths, they're owned by LinkedIn which was bought by MicroSoft, so there are a lot of connections.
