Imagine you wake up one day and the picturesque public playing field behind your house has been turned into a trailer park full of illiterate, drunken criminals. You go talk to them and they threaten you with weapons and throw stones at you as you walk off. The police get involved but they don't have the powers to fucking do anything. After a couple of days all the houses on your street have been broken into and all the local kids have their bikes stolen for scrap. The local council will have started legal proceedings to get the momved on but this takes months and often fails on human right grounds. The local people are fed up and form a mob to do something about the situation but the police arrest them and protect the gypsies (seriously). After several weeks or months (or years in some cases) they decide to move on leaving mountains of garbage, industrial waste and human shit everywhere for the local council to clean up which ultimately get billed to taxpayers.

The criminal fuckers move on to some other poor town and the whole cycle starts again. There are hundreds of gangs of Gypsies doing this in the UK right now. The EU considers them victims and prevents the law from doing anything about them.

Never. From my experience most crime that travelers commit involves other travelers. That being said, it is purely anecdotal. They definitely do steal anything that is not bolted down, including things you wouldn't normally expect to be stolen such as gates to your farm.

My main run in with them is when they are riding their horses on the bypass for my town. As an anon previously said, they are very abusive towards their animals and treat them terribly.
