I still don't understand the whining about this story. T-Mobile and Sprint have been offering lower cost unlimited data plans with video streaming reduced to 480p for a while now. It's good for reducing network congestion and it saves money for people who don't give a shit about streaming video in 720/1080p.

I'm currently on a unlimited data with 480p streaming on MetroPCS, a T-Mobile MVNO. I pay just $80 a month for two users. I don't really care about steaming YouTube at 480p. I spend most of my time in places where there's wifi anyway. If I want to watch movies I just stream from Plex.

The fact that Verizon is offering these unlimited data plans lately is actually a GOOD thing because it shows they're starting to feel heat from competition from other mobile providers. Verizon didn't even offer unlimited data plans for a long time until this year.
