In seriousness though, the job role is 'UX Researcher'. It's difficult to get your foot in the door without a master's and a willingness to relocate (there aren't many positions because it's relatively new), but if you can manage to find one and love conducting cognitive/behavioral research then it's pretty much life on easy mode. I honestly still can't even believe that it exists because it really is a dream job. Like, imagine getting paid 40-50k/hr with great benefits at entry level to do the thing you live and breathe.

It sounds like you're either dealing with a really shitty UX group or don't really see the whole picture. In most cases, PMs, designers, etc come to the research team with problems and questions so often that we have a backlog that extends into eternity and have to prioritize projects heavily. If you don't mind me asking, what's the issue with them asking for data? Just that they can't collect it? There's a chance that they don't know how easy it is to gather those metrics if it really is as easy as you claim.
There's also the fact that oftentimes researchers just don't collect low-level metrics themselves when there are others who can more easily hand it over. For example, much of the data I've gotten from other teams and such could have been gathered myself, but it would be a bureaucratic nightmare to do so.
