New King James Version. It's really the best you can get in the English language. They went to a lot of trouble to get it right, and the New King James gets rid of the "thee" and "thou" Old English words to make it easier for a modern reader.

It doesn't really matter. I read the King James, but primarily because I like its aesthetic. If you read scripture prayerfully, inviting the Holy Spirit to elucidate the meaning to you, meditating on what you find confusing and asking to be shown the path, it will be given unto you. The translation itself doesn't matter THAT much. Just find one you like and read it. Actually read it. Then worry about comparing translations, digging in to the Greek, Aramaic, or Hebrew, and so on.

The real question is not which Bible but, since you said you want "the whole Bible," what do you mean by that? Protestant canon, Catholic canon, Orthodox canon, Ethiopian canon?

The NRSV has the whole Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox canon, and there are good annotated editions, but I'm not a big fan of the translation. The ESV fixes a lot of the NRSV problems, but there's only one edition with the apocrypha. If you're Protestant, it's probably the best balance between readability and dignity.

Get the Orthodox Study Bible.

I have an ESV with apocrypha but I only use it as a memory aide, its terrible for research and study.

I recommend going to one of those bible sites where they list verses from all the versions next to one another as I dont think there is one definitive "perfect" copy of the bible. doing a little research on why all these different versions exist won't hurt either.
