I jettisoned from a community I was ready to let go of about 4 years ago, but it wasn't for anything even controversial. Some PoCs got mad at me cause I said mass migration to Europe was never voted for democratically and that it's destroying thousands of years of unbroken demographic homogeneity and culture. Brown entitlement to the Western world is beyond me, as I can't imagine hopping on over to Japan and putting my feet up like the Japs owe me it all.

I was really good friends with this one guy back when I was in college, we'd do group projects together, go out drinking and hang out smoking weed. It literally took less than 6 months for the website to go from "reblog if you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain" to "lmao white ppl are crazy". It was honestly terrifying. The website I had eagerly looked forward to reading like the daily newspaper for the past two years had become some cancerous, vile, negative, abusive shithole seemingly overnight. Worst part was seeing everyone get brainwashed by it, too.

Let me give you another example. Nowadays on tumblr I'll see posts all the fucking time saying shit like "it's ok if u do nothing today!!!! ur perfect boo dont ever change u w u". That "celebrating mediocrity" attitude was not at all on tumblr pre-2012. Instead you'd see posts that focus on encouraging people to do well and to make their lives better--not praising them for being pieces of shit. Things like "Sometimes life is hard, but you can work through it! Do your best, okay!? Everything will be daijobu!" were the norm before then. Affirming someone's strengths was the norm. And these posts most definitely helped worsen the mentality of the userbase.
