Theoretically, you can be baptized with only one other strictly human person present. You don't need to do it in front of a crowd. Approach a pastor and ask to be baptized privately. He would be wrong to refuse you, since it only requires five persons at a minimum (you, the baptizer and God).


I also have pretty bad social anxiety, and have also not yet been baptized. I plan to once I've perfected my repentance, which I believe to be incomplete.

Just keep repenting as necessary and praying. God hears even the prayers of unbelievers. You won't "feel his presence" because he's literally not present within you. But he still hears you.

Bro, I was in the same boat as you and didn't understand until I started unironically looking into christian evidence and claims. It's all there, God did reveal himself to us but there's an adversary that hides it. For background, I've been here since I was 16 and I'm over 25 now but under 30. As for me, I don't believe there are any really compelling. I'm always embarrassed when I read apologetics books, because even a faithful Christian like myself isn't convinced by them.

The only remotely compelling argument I've heard is John Henry Newman's argument from conscience. Essentially it argues that evolution alone doesn't adequately explain the human conscience, and infers God as the most logical explanation.

I'm not even entirely convinced by that in intellectual terms, but I don't think God calls people to fully understand or account for him intellectually. As I said before, faith is inexplicable belief plus loyalty. This is what God values, and not scientific knowledge about him.

Technically, you "go on believing" not simply "believe". The original Greek uses a specific verb tense to illustrate this that is not usually translated well.

Essentially, in biblical terms, "belief" is doing and not thinking or understanding. Or rather a meeting of your actions with what I call "inexplicable intellectual belief" which is handed down to you from on high. You are not called to believe through the power of your own understanding, but you are called to "go on believing" which means remaining loyal to the heavenly vision.

Also, bringing up the tribulation is a whole new can of worms. What about all the people who died prior to the tribulation? They didn't get a chance to see these events that would push them towards belief. It seems unfair that some people would be born in a time period or in a situation where they're more likely to accept god than others.

Also, I'm aware there is debate over this, but I was always taught the rapture happens before the tribulation. And that god would give anyone who remains on earth after the rapture strong delusions, so that they would accept the anti-christ's message and accept the mark of the beast.
