Chances are, government really doesn't care. I mean they obviously know a lot of people browse /pol/ and Amren and "white nationalist" videos on youtube. They know, and they most likely dont care. They can't arrest you for it...yet.

Tor would be a option, but it's garbage when it comes to normal browsing. Brave is good and is actually improving as time goes on, plus, you can earn coins with it.

If you really want to hide your IP VPN is the best option though.

even though you are alt-right trash, i will explain. it probably splits a lot of different things into separate processes (video/image rendering, unique webpage plugins, etc) so that if one part fails the entire browser doesnt crash. it may seem like its using more cpu because of the numerous processes, but its equivalent to if it was just one single process. all in all, its a good thing and most browsers do it

Pale Moon user here. Don't fall for the AdNauseum or Brave scam. Pale Moon comes de-Googled — something that Waterfox and Brave (and Chrome, Chromium, and Firefox) are not.

I use the Compact Moon theme with Pale Moon. Preserving my privacy, defeating trackers, and eliminating ads are my goal. Addons I recommend are:

All-In-One Gestures
Blender
Change Referer Button
Click&Clean
Compact Moon Options
Cookies Exterminator
Decentraleyes
Greasemonkey (with 4chan X)
HTTPS Everywhere
Privacy Settings
Secret Agent
uBlock Origin
uMatrix

Then, strip out any dormant Google connection thusly — Run Pale Moon. Type "about:config" in the url bar, search for "safebrows". Delete the two url entries you see on the right side. Then, enable anti-fingerprinting thusly — Type "about:config", search for "canvas.poisondata". Double click to toggle it to true. To test that it is working, go here - https://browserleaks.com/canvas. You should have a new signature each time you refresh.

Then, block ads and trackers before they even get to your pc — Modify your HOSTS file.
http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

That combination is how you maintain privacy, defeat ads and trackers and SJWfox, and how you disconnect from Google. For further disconnecting from Google, use ProtonMail for email, and use searx.com or qwant.com for searches. For further privacy, consider using a VPN such as PrivateInternetAccess. For even better privacy, use a VPN that originates out of a country that isn't a member of the Fourteen Eyes.

Here's the deal. If you're up to nefarious shit, unless you're schooled in the latest and greatest networking protocol and have in death knowledge of precisely what routes your packets are taking, you're fucked. End of story. The NSA can't legally peer (use info for the conviction of a US citizen) on any traffic exiting the US, or within the US. Now sure they still see it, but they can't really act upon it. However, any traffic coming back into the US is scooped up - all of it. Even if you've got a snug VPN, the NSA is grabbing your traffic, and you can bet your bottom dollar they have access to the encryption required to break your info. All thoes packets are going to be sorted through and read by intelligent agents (computer programs n' shit).
>long story short, if you're online it's too late... unless you're using a darknet, but in that case you're not really 'online'

>Full Hodor

Welcome to the botnet. Brave's creator, the same guy who made Javascript which is a primary instrument to spy on you and trample on your privacy, has made no secret of the fact that he fully intends to collect and package your tracking data and sell it to advertisers.

"Once Brave has 7+ million users, the company will use your browsing history and share industry-standard ad categories with publishers. Armed with this data, they'll be able to place appropriate ads. Is it still invasive? Sure, to an extent. But Brave is hoping users will be able to look past that and is even planning to offer a small financial incentive to do so."

Fuck off.

https://www.techspot.com/news/63536-brave-speedy-browser-strips-out-web-tracker-ads.html

https://www.sitepoint.com/interview-brendan-eich-ceo-brave/

The CEO's plan is to lure in users by making claims of "privacy", and then he fully intends to exploit that user base as a marketing ploy to sell clicks back to advertisers. Brave is a scam.

Also, Hodor.

yeah, well the US government can pretty much collude with anyone that wants a contract anytime in the future. all major US tech companies have their algorithms available to the NSA. You'd probably have to settle for a foreign VPN service that hopefully doesn't run on any foundation software/hardware from the US. Still, if their servers are owned by a US entity, or they have cloud service in such jurisdiction, your back to square one.

This is the reason Brazil's government wants a splinter-net because the US can keep seizing their traffic ad infinitum. it also helps that all the un-auditable back doors in Windows OS keep spewing data on their own accord. i'd assume even if your encryption is solid, your fucking computer is going to send doppelganger keys to agencies.

of course the CIA doesn't control the data in tor, they just have to monitor outlets

i have no doubt that criminal activity is a problem, but it's either that or a surveillance state where your every moved is tracked and analysed. to me, the latter is unacceptable. privacy is the better of the two evils.

Unless you use S/MIME or PGP with all of your email contacts, trusting anybody to host your email is retarded.

>>138414071
Hipster web devs have shitted up html to the point that Lynx doesn't even work for 99% of sites. Sad days.
>>
Correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understand that no matter the measures you take (browsers with a bunch of blocking addons run through a virtual machine with a vpn) it still doesn't matter because high level agencies can see beyond that. If they can't data is being scopped and stored until such time that more advanced computers have the power the decrypt all of the traffic.

In other words, they can't make sense of everything now, but they can store it until advancements in tech make it possible to handle all of the data.

The best approach in my mind is to simply be comfortable with your thoughts.
>>
You really think the government cares about your shitposting? Just don't write actionable shit and you'll be fine with any browser.

Damn, that's pretty sad. I used it back in the day where you just typed all of your HTML in to a text file and saved it with the HTML extension.

a 240 quantum computer could sequence the human genome in a couple of seconds, with time left to verify and probably run some extrapolation models to predict what it'll look like 100 years from now

>I don't need to hide my emails
Hear me out, look what ((they)) did to Andrew Anglin, and not just Google--CloudFlare, GoDaddy, Spotify, Uber, AirBNB, Discord and many others have shown that they will use their leverage to silence people like YOU. Your email is the gateway to all of your online assets since it can be used to reset passwords and prove your identity. If it's frozen or compromised, you're hosed. Are you willing to trust a Norwegian tech firm with that?

This is as dumb as blaming the guy who invented cameras for trampling your privacy. It's an open source scripting language to expand browser-side functionality. It can be used for anything, good or evil. It's your responsibility to make sure that scripts you load are safe, and there are plenty of tools to help you with that.

CPUs for the last 10 years have had backdoors in them for the NSA and whatever else you can imagine.

Google, Brave, Firefox... really doesn't matter if the gov. is interested in you.

However you can do things to prevent corporate/private interests. Firefox with a bunch of privacy related addons helps a lot. Disconnect, uBlock, HTTPS, etc. Using alternative search engines, email, etc.
>>
Firefox is good, but if you're really fucking paranoid the only option is to learn C, read source then compile it yourself. Also don't tell me any of you niggers still browse and post on /pol/ without using HTTPS...

In the interview he even says it's only going to report ad data anonymously to their servers through a new protocol they set up, your browsing history never leaves your device and they never have a "personal ad profile" like jewgle does. Instead, it looks like they create a generic collective profile of users and cycle ads that way based on how they perform on average across all users with anonymous reports that don't transmit your data. While not absolutely private and could be open to exploitation, it's still better than what else is out there. Let's at least be honest here. I'd say use it for now but be ready to switch if it changes.
>>
>>138416647
Chrome is bottom of the barrel on privacy, literally anything would be better, you can get Chromium that it is built on and look for a fork that removes all the telemetry(it tries to send info back to google even in the open source build by default)

The 1971-2017 claim is bullshit or at least completely unsubstantiated.
HOWEVER, Intel Management Engine (ME) and AMD TrustZone is built into every CPU since 2007 or so and would hypothetically allow Intel/AMD total control over your system--including when it's fucking OFF. That is not even tinfoil shit, they actually tout this as a useful feature for a company running 1000s of systems (it actually is quite useful, but for home users it is completely inappropriate).
>>
>>138404048
Firefox is open source, so let's wait and see what the Soros related changes are first
It's probably just another safebrowsing-style hash prefix blacklist which can thus be disabled in about:config
>>
>>138420274
So it's just a proof of concept type thing then? Is there evidence of intel/amd cooperating with NSA etc to use this for monitoring?
>>
I've been testing Vivaldi and Brave lately. Vivaldi seems pretty good so far but for some reason Brave is so goddamn slow.
>>
>>138420520
Can I get a quick rundown on this Soros firefox thing? I'm using the nightly build right now and I don't see anything.
>>
>>138420718
That's weird, Vivaldi is bloated as all fuckery and Brave is just a reskinned Chromium with adblock built in, Brave theoretically should be MUCH faster out of the box.
>>
>>138408888
Goddam you're fucking stupid.
>>
>>138420737
I don't think there are any changes at this point
They are saying they want to protect users from "fake news" sites
It'll probably be similar to when you get a warning that "this site may harm your computer, are you sure you want to continue"
>>
>>138421361
Huh, so literally fucking nothing then. I see people freaking out over this. It'll probably have an option to disable in prefs and if it doesn't FF is FOSS for a reason.
>>
>>138420806
Yeah I don't understand either. Brave is just very unresponsive and seems to skip a lot when playing videos. It takes a couple seconds after I've started typing in a url for the shit i just typed to even appear in the search bar.
>>
I'll stick with Cyberfox until it stops working.
>>
>>138421486
Have you considered running Chromium with ublock origin? That's a better set up than Brave.
>>
>>138421574
I might try it. Honestly I've only just started migrating away from Firefox and Chrome after the whole Google Memo shitfest so I still have plenty of other browsers to test out.
>>
>>138420669
It's not just a proof of concept, it's fucking trivial. I used ME on a regular basis working for a medium-sized tech firm with a few hundred business laptops, you can access ANYTHING and it works on ANY computer with the right keys (which are held by the manufacturer by default). Nothing has come out about NSA/CIA actually using ME or TrustZone as backdoors, but it would be far from unprecedented.
As an example, Microsoft tells the NSA about un-patched security holes and delays their maintenance at their discretion: http://techrights.org/2015/02/11/microsoft-back-doors/
Additionally, Msoft inserts backdoors into software at the NSA's request:
http://techrights.org/2014/07/31/microsoft-back-doors-admission/
Nobody can prove they have, but I'd be fucking shocked if intelligence agencies haven't used ME after all these years.

I didn't switch from Chrome until they started banning YouTube accounts plus gmail accounts and started censoring the shit out of everybody. I would say that Firefox, while the company is owned by kikes, is an acceptable alternative to (((Chrome))). At least Mozilla doesn't sell your data for shekels. If Firefox is a little too kikey for your tastes, then go and use Opera. Brave has barely any extension support...

It does it's shit before boot time, so you can use it to execute an arbitrary payload before anything even starts. OS doesn't matter at that point, it just comes down to whatever you're smart enough to cook up. Myself? Not so much. The NSA? God only knows.

Remote management engine that has security based on lack of understanding of how intel can access it. It's for mass enterprise system management, but if it ever got pawned the world would be fucked.
>>
>>138424887
Exactly. There is one ECDSA keypair owned by Intel that is burned into every one of their CPUs and allows remote access to anyone who can sign with it. I would be willing to eat my dick if the NSA doesn't have it too.
