How long would a normal one be and how long is a feast day one?

Making plans for my first confession in 15 years. I've read that you can make appointments for confession at some of my local parishes; should I do that since I have much to confess? I'm afraid of holding up the other penitents who want to confess before Mass.

The tridentine mass has been celebrated since at least the 6th century in Rome, so its probably older, from apostolic origin. It's only called "tridentine" today because it was standarized by S Pius V after the council of Trent. Ther correct term is Roman Rite.

I'd suggest people try to go to a Sung or High Latin Mass first (a missa cantana or missa solemnis). Many Latin Masses are "low masses" where the priest privately celebrates the mass at the alter without any musical accompaniment, incense, etc.. At a low mass, if you're not in the first two rows you probably won't even be able to tell the priest is speaking Latin. I have nothing against the Low Mass, but it can be very jarring for first timers.

I finally made the return to the Church this year after being a fedora from age 16-23 (25 now). If anyone in the thread is considering returning, please go to confession and talk with your local priest I cannot recommend this enough.

For those Catholics in here, what advice do you have in terms of chastity? I have been giving up masturbation and porn more and more, to the point that I relapse maybe once every month. However, I have been dating a Catholic girl for the past 5 months and we have been practicing chastity even though we both are not virgins. I am so glad we are, because I have never experienced a relationship like this before, and we truly feel closer through Christ.
