You don't know much about the UK, Ireland or the Commonwealth Jerry. The reason some countries left the Commonwealth, it being a British thing aside, is that traditionally it has implied (and previously outright meant) some degree of allegiance to the Queen. The Irish traditionally have hated that shit. Even now the Sinn Fein politicians in Northern Ireland don't take up their seats in the UK Parliament because it would mean being at Her Majesty's pleasure.
