Feels fucking good, I won't lie. Don't even care if the list refers to actual assault rifles or just "assault" rifles, it's good to know that that many states refuse to concede even small steps.

Blaming inanimate objects for behavioral problems is indicative of a mental illness, or at least cognitive deficiency. Anyone in support of the regulation of public possession of any kind of inanimate object is insane or genuinely invested in weakening the individual.

Should we regulate manufacturing? Yes, to the extent that it is necessary to prevent environmental damage. Should we regulate what people are allowed to purchase? No. We should require accurate labeling of any dangerous substances or materials present, but outright prohibition is a waste of state resources, and only harms the law-biding consumer. Criminals will have their way regardless of what laws are in place.

Furthermore:

Pens and pencils don't write threatening statements, people do.
Compilers don't write malware, people do.
Cameras don't make child pornography, people do.
Vehicles don't run over people, the people driving them cause this to happen.
Knives don't stab people all on their own.

I can kill someone with my bare hands. Many other people can do the same. Does this mean we should all be handcuffed for public safety?
