Possibly the greatest living Catholic/Thomist philosopher, Alasdair MacIntyre, was an atheist Marxist until about the age of 50. Several great right-wing writers (James Burnham, Whittaker Chambers, among many others.) started out as communists as well.

I believe that humans are complex and have many layers to them
