If thinking outside the realm of jewish masteminds, then the most likely answer is that both towers (along with WTC 7) were rigged with explosives in case there was a possibility that any of those towers would collapse.
Doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to imagine the kind of destruction if one of the behemoths were to fall due to bombs etc.

You forget the US has Turkey for that, which they filled with NATO weapons and Turks have the ability to close that straight which allows Russia to directly access the middle east from the black sea (The Bosphorus, Dardanelles).
