Overall, I enjoyed the 90s. What ripped the 90s apart were three things:

Those three things combined contributed to the overall breakdown of 90s fever. If none of those things occurred, we'd probably be living in a more relaxed time. Race relations calmed down considerably after the civil rights, between the years 1975 and 1995. Shit was actually starting to meld for the better.

I liked it. Nowadays, if a conversation doesn't focus on politics, it focuses on race. I'm just exhausted with it all. It's all so tiresome.

I think everyone forgot how to meet in the middle and find common ground. Liberals and conservatives both ran to their extremes and started blaming each other for a tangible decrease in individuals' purchasing power and for a general feeling of economic decline.

I wish our politicians and news media would stop celebrating ideological purity, and instead encourage people to be pragmatic and find centrist, practical solutions to our problems, that everyone can benefit from (even if it's a smaller individual benefit than advocating your own best interest over others'). That's what love for country and countryman is all about. We need to encourage antisocial city blacks and marginalized white collar family men alike that this country stands for them, as long as they pay it forward too. We're all Americans, and we need to love each other as Christ commanded us to, and as our Constitution inspires us to.

In my opinion, the trend towards political extremism in our country comes from the influence of moneyed interests who buy access to policymaking thorough campaign and party contributions. No one ever lobbies (bribes) politicians to do what's practical and ought to be done without coaxing. Nor do they lobby for the mutual best interest, but for their own side, so we end up with a political system that caters a donor class of self-serving special interests. We need to take back our democratic process, for all of us Americans to take pride in our nation.
