Dude, I feel you, but the civil war monuments aren't about participation trophies. While some of these monuments do focus on less than desirable individuals, the purpose behind the monuments is to remind Americans of how catastrophic civil war is. Half of all Americans, although Confederates weren't really Americans after they seceded, killed in war throughout the history of the US were killed in the Civil War.

I know a lot of people buy into the "erasing history like ISIS" meme, but they really are missing the larger point. To frame this in modern context I am a right leaning dude while the rest of my family leans left and I'd really rather not have to throw them out of helicopters if I can avoid it, but damned if I won't do it if they force my hand.

Fuck commies, fuck nazis, fuck confederates, fuck hyphenated-Americans. You're fucking American or you are not. And fuck you, OP.
