Almost all of those were done using clues left by users and owners to identify them. Freedom hosting was busted through a java exploit. Not a single arrest has been made by cracking the tor network, just poor opsec.

I do feel sorry for the drug users who have been arrested but fuck the pedos. I remember reading about one pedo who was busted on tor because he signed his posts with a specific phrase and had specific markings on his body in the pictures he posted of himself raping little girls. They searched his little catch phrase and found his real life identity then used the marking from the pictures to verify it was him.
